Planesong | 2006

Planesong is an installation by the artist James Hutchinson with software and electronics developed by Spencer Roberts. It presents the audience with a fully immersive three dimensional space that is comprised of algorithmically generated graphic planes projected onto four walls.

The three planar structure is ever evolving and is navigated using a console game-pad controller. 
Planesong suggests the construction and deconstruction of the basic building blocks of life, both digital and biological.It raises questions concerning life, power, control and technology. 

Exhibited: Gallery TS1, AV Festival, Newcastle, 2006.

Technology: Four Mac-Mini's/Processing/PIC Microcontroller/Network/Game Controller.
Software: Processing based generative algorithm for the production of planar space.
